At Universal Joinery, we believe that good design and craftsmanship should go hand in hand with responsible practices. We’re a small business, but we take sustainability seriously and try to make thoughtful choices at every stage of a project.
We use FSC-certified timber for our joinery, ensuring that the wood we work with comes from responsibly managed forests. Wherever possible, we choose low-VOC finishes and adhesives, reducing harmful emissions in our workshop and in your home.
Joinery inevitably creates offcuts—but we’re careful not to let them go to waste. We reuse offcuts on future projects or offer them back to our clients if they might be useful. We also recycle materials wherever we can, from packaging to old fittings.
We mostly work in and around south London, and we prioritise working with local suppliers and trades. This not only supports other small businesses, but helps reduce transport-related emissions and keeps our supply chain more transparent.
Sustainability also means making things that don’t need replacing. Everything we make is built with longevity in mind—carefully designed, well-constructed, and made to last for decades, not just years.
